Important Information to Plan for Fr. Jerry’s Funeral

WAKE
The wake will be here at church from 2 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 11. THE CHURCH DOORS WILL NOT OPEN UNTIL 1 PM. Please do not wait outside the doors. When you arrive, you will be directed to take a seat. The wake will begin with a recitation of the rosary. After the rosary, the ushers will lead us, communion style, to individually pray beside Fr. Jerry’s body. We will only use the center aisles to go and pray at his body.
At 7 PM, Father Steven will lead us in a prayer service.
Following the prayer service, ALL are invited to the church hall to share some refreshments and stories of Father Jerry
FUNERAL
Fr. Jerry’s funeral is scheduled for Thursday, March 12, at 10 AM. There will NOT BE an 8:30 mass that morning. THE CHURCH DOORS WILL NOT OPEN UNTIL 8 AM. There will be reserved seating at the front for family, priests, and representatives of parish organizations that worked closely with Father Jerry. By firecode the church safely holds 1200 people. When we reach that number, we will have overflow seating in the Parish Center for about 200 people, where the funeral will be livestreamed. If you are concerned about the crowds or have mobility issues, the funeral will be livestreamed and can be watched from home. Parking will undoubtedly be an issue. Please consider carpooling to make room for as many cars as possible.
LUNCHEON
There will be a luncheon provided by the Guild of Our Lady for family, the Bishop, diocesan priests, out-of-town guests, and a small representative group from parish organizations. It is a luncheon that we have had to limit, due to space, to an invitation-only event.
GRAVESIDE
At 1:30, the Sheriff’s Department will lead a funeral procession from Sacred Heart to Coral Ridge Cemetery, where there will be a graveside service. Again, if you plan to attend the graveside service, please consider carpooling.
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS
Please make a donation to Saint Vincent de Paul, The Knights of Columbus, or The Guild of Our Lady. These three organizations and the ministry they do were very close to his heart in life, and a tender way to honor him in death.
