Mercy is what links us as a human family. It is the common bond for our world, the glue that has the potential to hold us together. If only we could recognize and unleash its power.

Easter is knowing that no matter what happens, we are held in the arms of God and raised from what pains us to new life.

It is hard to look into the eye of our weakness, perhaps most especially when that weakness is expressed in silence. A silence that allows evil to flourish.  

So often, we wonder where God is when we suffer. He is right there in the middle of it, suffering with us.

Blindness may be challenging to cure, and it is also difficult to diagnose.

People are saved by their encounters with Jesus from whatever weighs them down or holds them back.

We see the face of God, and we can never be the same again; our hearts are turned around, and we experience what the theologians call metanoia.

Fully human assures us Jesus had to choose. Jesus’ temptation loses its importance if there is no pull toward the wrong choice.

Perfection is fidelity to our faith journey. It knows God is luring us and having every cell of our being responding to that lure.

Jesus’ response is meant to show the Pharisee’s that the Law they follow is not wrong; it is simply not enough. Their Commandments are not to be ignored. Instead, they are to be embraced more profoundly.
