Father Desmond Bryan Finerty—Obituary
Our beloved Father Desmond Bryan Finerty passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
We held his funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 21, 2024, here at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Punta Gorda. Bishop Frank J. Dewane presided and our pastor, Father Jerry Kaywell gave the homily and a loving send-off to our dear Father Bryan.

My Sincere regrets that my current illness prevented me from attending Father Finerty’s
Celebration of Life Funeral Mass today. Father
Finerty was a Fine Priest. I am grateful that I was able to attend the last Mass He officiated. To witness His Will to continue serving despite the Suffering He endured was quite an inspiration. His great Humility showed as He Had to accept much assistance to preform Mass.
His Homily’s always brought forth a great message. He will be greatly missed. I am grateful God has taken Him from the long suffering that He gracefully endured. I know in
My Heart that God has prepared a special place for Him in Heaven. That Father Bryan is resting in Peace. May His Radiant Irish Smile and His example of determination remain with us all. 🕊️
