Humility is Truth?

We need to always be attentive to where the light is shining.

I know some of you come here each morning for a word of inspiration to start the day. Today, I am out of time and energy to gather my thoughts and prayer for a full Gospel reflection. So a little idea is all there is. God will have to fill in the blank spots.

Today’s Gospel is about humility. It is about remembering to whom our actions should be giving glory. We all need affirmation, and that is not a bad thing.

Humility does not mean becoming a demurring wallflower.

Humility means using the gifts we are given for the good of others and society. Humility is graciously receiving praise when we do well. It means remembering and giving thanks for those gifts and never forgetting the author of life that gave us the talents and skills that bring us praise.

We need to always be attentive to where the light is shining. If it is shining on me and I am basking in its glow, that is not humility.

If the light is shining on me, and with a grateful heart, I allow myself to become a window through which people see the goodness of God, that is, humility.

Today, let’s take some time to acknowledge the gifts God has given, be grateful, and use them to make life better.

In God’s Unending Love,

Gwen
