Hurricane Milton Update 3

The parish properties sustained some damage from the hurricane. The Church, parish offices, and hall are without power. The parish center, maintenance building, and rectory are without power and have water damage. FPL is working to reestablish power, and we are beginning to take the steps necessary to address the water damage.

We will not have mass on Saturday morning, Confessions, or Weekend Masses at Church.  Even if the power is restored, we must reestablish the security, sound, and fire safety systems before we return to the building.

Please check the availability of mass at other parishes this weekend.  Look for updates and pass this message on to friends and neighbors who attend Sacred Heart but may not see it here.

We will post additional updates regarding the status of morning masses next week.  Thank you for being patient with this process.  May we continue to meet one another in prayer until we can gather again as Church at Sacred Heart.

  1. It is confusing on this website to us whether or not we may attend Mass tomorrow , or even on Sunday. The regular schedule says Mass on Saturday at 4pm but nothing about 8:30 am Mass – not to mention the Rosary. But then there is another place that says there is no Mass at all this weekend. I suggested someone showcase your schedule in the glass box window outside the Church on the wall visible to passers-by and even offered my assistance to no avail. Nowever, a lot of us are asking “me” (me – ??) and wondering what to do. I guess we should find another church until Sacred Heart alerts us they’ve reopened. After a week like this we sure would have been grateful to thank God for his benevolence but we’ve been denied that. I can assure you we do not care in the least if there is A/C or not – or if there is electricity, nor microphones!

    1. I apologize for not responding sooner. As you may have seen from the updates we will follow our regular mass schedule beginning on Monday. Oct 14. It is not possible to use the church unless the electricity and fire systems are working. It is a public building and we must follow safety codes and procedures.

  2. Thank you for the update.
We are thankful no one was injured and understand the necessity to address the safety issues prior to parishioners returning for services. Thank you for your dedication to all your parish family.
